BENOIT CHAMPY LIFEBOAT
Former lifeboat in Cayeux-sur-Mer, with a large size of 10 m, designed to withstand storms.
Cayeux-sur-Mer is home to an old lifeboat: the Benoît Champy, built in 1887. Until 1956, it made numerous trips to the sea to assist boats in difficulty and shipwreck victims. A large vessel (10 meters long), it was designed to withstand storms. A historic monument with a lifeboat shelter to protect it, it has been restored under the impetus of the Amicale des Pompons Rouges, a group of enthusiasts who offer guided tours.
