This family-friendly seaside resort on the Picardy coast takes its name from the pebble bed deposited by the sea after rolling the flints stripped from the nearby chalk cliffs. Picardy's version of pebbles is world-renowned for its hardness, purity and blue color. Designed for construction, they are also used for decoration, filtering and sandpaper manufacture. Fired, they are used in the preparation of ceramics and paints. The 1,800-metre-long Chemin des Planches, Europe's longest, is attracting more and more tourists. Its beach cabins add a certain charm.
