SAINT VINCENT ABBEY
Royal abbey with a high bell tower, a site full of history located next to an old sports field in Senlis.
As soon as you arrive, the contrast is startling: a majestic royal abbey topped by a high bell tower stands next to a former sports field. Today, this singular site is home to the private Lycée Saint-Vincent, housed within the walls of an abbey founded in 1066, on the initiative of Anne of Kiev, wife of King Henry I. A vestige of this era remains in the small chapel adjoining the north transept, recognizable by its thick wall. Having become national property after the French Revolution, the abbey struggled to find a new vocation, and for a time housed a weaving mill.
