POVERTY OFFICE
Site built for the indigent in the 17th century, now a Cultural Center to visit with a conservatory and a media library.
Built in the 17th century at the instigation of Nicolas Choart de Buzanval, Bishop of Beauvais, this site housed 300 to 500 indigents, spread over 8,000 m² around three courtyards. One of the largest hospices in France, it was transformed during the Revolution into a hospice attached to the hospital, which remained in operation until 1986. The former chapel is now the Rostropovitch auditorium, while the mansion houses a gallery and exhibitions. The Centre culturel François-Mitterrand houses a conservatory, media library and art school.
