Dike to protect valuable crops, but also houses from flooding of the Loire in Saint-Julien-de-Concelles
One of the nicest strolls in the surroundings of Nantes for this tourist place where guinguettes and restaurants of the Loire line up. It is served a cuisine that highlights the products of the region. Since the 19th century, the quality of the Loire sand and the climate have favored the development of market gardening (cultivation of lamb's lettuce, radishes, leeks, carrots). Lily of the valley, grown on these lands, represents 85% of the national production. To protect these crops and the houses from the floods of the Loire, a 15 kilometer long dyke, the Divatte dyke, was raised in 1847.
