LA POINTE DE MERQUEL
The point of Merquel is the ideal place for bird watching. A panoramic observatory allows you to discover the magnificent view of Pointe. The hiking circuit winds through the salt marshes and then reaches the ocean to the customs masisonette. The Traict of Mesquer-Pen Bé, Sorlock Beach and the Chapel of Merquel are essential sites for the visitor. In all seasons, this route offers its charms: from the strong winter wind that sweeps the clouds and the cloud of light-obscure the rocks and the beach, to the joyful spring of spring, animating the bocagic hedges around the salt marshes, the steps of the walker go from wonder to wonder. A few meters from the tip of the tip of Merquel is the chapel of Merquel. One of the oldest places of cult on the Guérande Peninsula, the chapel, renovated in the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries, underwent desanination during the Revolution. The Germans destroyed it entirely in 1944, to release their shooting field on the Traict of Pen-Bé. Thanks to the energetic action of Father Guillebaut, assisted by his parishioners, the walls of the chapel are identical and blessed in 1949 by the Bishop of Nantes. There is a statue of Saint Médard, the famous bishop of Noyon, who was assigned power of action on the beautiful or bad weather. The building was dedicated to the Revolution, before becoming a pilgrimage to the sailors and the people of the coast and to take the name of "Notre-Dame-de-Merquel". The trails of the Pointe de Merquel are exclusively reserved for pedestrians. Attention, presence of an impracticable portion at high tide.
