NOTRE-DAME ABBEY
Benedictine abbey for women, in neo-gothic style, open to women who would like to learn about monastic retreats.
This Benedictine abbey is the female counterpart of the Saint-Paul abbey. It was founded in 1889 and designed by Paul Vilain in a neo-Gothic style. Today, it is still home to some twenty nuns whose daily tasks include prayer, work and lectio divina (reading and reflecting on the Holy Scriptures), all in respectful, meditative silence. It welcomes women wishing to take part in monastic retreats, and in keeping with Benedictine tradition, it is also a guesthouse open to all.
