France's first regional nature park, in 1968, Scarpe-Escaut and its 64 communes offer a wide variety of landscapes: meadows, forests and wet valleys. The area is home to remarkable flora and fauna, and offers a wide range of tourist attractions (gîtes, restaurants, tours). The Pévèle countryside in the north, the Scarpe and Escaut plains in the center, and the Ostrevent and Quercitain plateaus in the south, are the main features.
