Museum housing the remains of an abbey and presenting the recent history of Marchiennes, especially during the world wars.
The museum is housed in the town's former prisons. Its abbey history occupies a large part of the rooms: sculptures, bas-reliefs, representations, plans... mixed with a detailed iconography of the town. The abbey was founded around 630 AD by the Merovingians. The tour culminates with the discovery of the 1791 relief plan of Marchiennes. Finally, there is a section on the town's recent history, particularly during the world wars, with photographs dating from 1917. A town with a rich past that its inhabitants have succeeded in sublimating.

Étant en groupe, nous avons dû écourter la visite, dommage car nous aurions aimé la prolonger et bénéficier du savoir de la guide.
