Dunkirk's port museum, retracing the lives of those who brought the port to life, from fishing to inland waterway transport, from the school ship.
Located in a former 19th-century tobacco warehouse, the Museum's 1,600m2 of floor space encompasses four centuries of history through 500 works of art (models, videos, paintings...) and 5 places to visit: the museum, the three boats and the Risban lighthouse. Each site recounts the lives of the men and women who brought the port to life, from fishing to inland navigation, from training ships to fireboats. Don't miss the chance to climb the 276 steps to the lighthouse for a magnificent view.

Opening time and information on PORT MUSEUM
Open daily from 10am to 12:30pm and from 1:30pm to 6pm, except Tuesdays. Closed January 1, Monday before Mardi Gras, May 1, December 25. Closed at 4pm on December 24 and 31. Museum: €8.50. Boats: €9.50. Museum + boats: €15. Lighthouse: €4.

The Maritime and Port Museum is located in the heart of the historical district of the Citadel, in a former tobacco warehouse from the 19th century. It offers a visit to discover the portrait of the famous privateer Jean Bart, exceptional figureheads or the epic of fishing in Iceland. You can also admire the details of the numerous models of ships, contemplate picturesque dioramas and surprising panoramic paintings. Moreover, you can stroll in the vast technical gallery dedicated to the handling trades, under the gaze of the giant Roge the docker. A great place to discover the world of the port!

Je recommande l’expérience immersive du Jean-Bart : c’est un jeu vidéo qui permet de découvrir les métiers de la marine royale et tout ce qu’il y a sur un vaisseau-amiral !
Le rez-de-chaussée et les deux étages sont à découvrir : comptez deux heures en tout.
La visite des bateaux est à faire aussi ! Cela donne un bon aperçu de leur fonctionnement, et de la vie à bord.
