A 63-metre-high lighthouse in Dunkirk, built on the ruins of a fort built by Vauban.

The ascent of the Risban lighthouse is superb. You will just have to make a little effort to face the 276 steps. Built on the ruins of a fort built by Vauban, the lighthouse was put into service in 1843. At 63 metres, it is the highest lighthouse in France in its category. Its now automatic light has a range of 26 miles (about 48 km). Although it suffered during the Second World War, it has since been restored. Night visits are sometimes organised and it is an invitation to see beauty where you don't necessarily expect it.

Tours organized by the Port Museum. For safety reasons, the number of visitors to the lighthouse is limited. Open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Free for children under 7. Adults: €6. Reduced price €4.50, family pass for 4 people or more €16. Guided tour (by reservation only).

C'est un phare d'une beauté remarquable qui nécessite une restauration. Il serait souhaitable de trouver des mécènes prêts à contribuer financièrement à sa remise en état, ce qui lui permettrait de retrouver tout son éclat. Espérons qu'un jour nous pourrons le visiter, car il offre une vue absolument splendide.
