If you've never been to this museum, go for it. And if you've already visited, go back. Renovated in 2017, it boasts 900 m² of exhibition space, immersive scenography, multimedia areas and a projection room. Display cases of weapons, uniforms, vehicles, maps and period photos tell the story of Operation Dynamo, the largest military evacuation in history: in 9 days, 338,226 soldiers, including 125,000 French, were evacuated to England, under enemy fire.

Open daily from 10am to 6pm. Free for children under 12 (with an adult). Adults: €8. Children (aged 12 to 18): €5. Groups (10 people): €7. Free parking in front of the museum. Guided tour (Musée maritime et portuaire and Musée Dunkerque 1940 have joined forces to offer a one-way ticket for €10). Gift store.

The Musée Dunkerque 1940 - Opération Dynamo welcomes you to the casemates of Bastion 32, a military structure built in 1874 to reinforce coastal defenses. It invites you to discover the epic story of Operation Dynamo, the largest military evacuation, with over 330,000 Allied soldiers evacuated to England. Here, you'll also learn all about the Battle of Dunkirk. The museum has a comfortable projection room, where you can watch a ten-minute film giving an overview of this tumultuous period. It also features a fascinating exhibition, rich in maps of military operations and photographs. Weapons, uniforms and detailed models are also on display. The museum has recently been completely renovated to offer visitors more comfortable and pleasant spaces. A must-see address for understanding the incredible story of the Battle of Dunkirk and Operation Dynamo.
