The sailing ship Duchesse Anne is the largest visitable sailing ship in France

The majestic three-master Duchesse Anne, a former German training ship in Dunkirk, offers a fascinating insight into the living conditions of sailors in days gone by. Christened Grossherzogin Elisabeth, she was launched in 1901 and sailed for three decades, training generations of officers and sailors. Renovated in 2025 by the city of Dunkirk, this majestic three-master has been restored to her former glory and is now open to the public. A 30-minute tour explores the various spaces and immerses visitors in life aboard an exceptional ship.

The museum and its various sites are closed on December 25, January 1, May 1 and the Monday before Mardi Gras (Carnival: Citadel Band). Low season: open weekends from 2pm to 5:30pm. High season: open every day and on public holidays from 2pm to 5:30pm. Zone B vacations. Free for children under 6 (groups of 12 or more / Seniors 65+ / Young people 7-25 / Jobseekers (-3 months) / RSA (-3 months) / Disabled + 1 accompanying adult). Adults: €9.50. Children (aged 7 to 18): €7. Family package: €25 - minimum 4 people including 1 or 2 adults and up to 5 children and/or young people under 26. Vacation vouchers. Guided tours during zones A and C vacations, plus zone B during Christmas vacations. The rest of the time unguided.
