Culture Toulouse

Located in the hôtel capitulaire de Boysson, the Maison de L'Occitanie (l'Ostal d'Occitània) is a cultural place managed by the association Convergéncia Occitana. It hosts in its premises many associations related to the Occitan culture: diffusion and promotion of the Occitan culture, organizers of cultural events, training center, artistic collectives as well as an associative radio. You can find there weekly courses, training courses and workshops of Occitan, song and dance as well as a regular cultural program.

The "Jeux Floraux" were founded in Toulouse in 1323 by seven troubadours to maintain courtly lyricism. Considered the oldest learned society in Europe, the Académie des Jeux Floraux was recognized as a public utility in 1923. Today, its mission is to promote poetry in French and Occitan throughout the world. It strives to encourage literary creation and the dissemination of culture, notably through its readings and public lectures.

The International House is an association of 1901, located in Toulouse, which aims to promote cultural exchanges between students and foreign residents who learn French in Toulouse and the Toulouse people who wish to make their city known, their region… To do this, the association proposes activities around intercultural sharing. For a membership of € 10 per year, you can share with people of all origins, a cheese and wine meal with an introduction to oenology or an international picnic, a tour of the Armagnac castles or a mountain hike, a walk on the pastel paths or discover Japanese culture around a thematic day.

Toulouse has a rich offer of libraries and media libraries. In addition to the José-Cabanis media library, which proudly stands above the ramblas, the city council has 19 neighbourhood libraries and media libraries at your disposal. From Mirail to the Côte Pavée, from Rangueil to the Croix-Daurade, every sector of Toulouse has a place to consult and lend. In addition, there is the study and heritage library, in charge of the city's historical collections, the nomadic library, which comes to you when you can't get around, as well as the reading boxes.

The Centre Culturel Bellegarde is a major venue for artistic expression in Toulouse. Throughout the year, it offers a rich and varied program to showcase contemporary art in all its forms: exhibitions, encounters, performances, installations... Workshops and courses are also organized, inviting you to get involved in the creative process. A true cultural hub, the Centre Bellegarde is open to all, offering local residents a place to discover, exchange and develop their artistic talents.

The Festival International du Film Grolandais de Toulouse, also known as FIFIGROT, is one of the city's major cultural events. In addition to film screenings, visitors can enjoy shows, performances, theater, concerts, exhibitions and literary encounters. The festival village is located at Port Viguerie, in the heart of Toulouse. FIFIGROT also features cult-themed sections such as Gro Zical and Gro l'Art, as well as tributes to singular filmmakers. FIFIGROT is a not-to-be-missed event for fans of offbeat cinema and wacky humor.
