This commune was born in 1964 of the association of two villages Soulosse and Saint-Elophe which corresponded to the ancient "Solicia" and "Solimariaca", the latter appearing on the road document of the Roman era, "L'Route de '". These two towns were considered to be important trading stations along the Roman route, and there were many testimonies of that time: antiques, stelas and objects in the museums of Epinal and Soulosse-Saint-Elophe.
