Notre-Dame de Verdun Cathedral, which retains its pure Romanesque layout and organizes major concerts and cultural events.
The oldest cathedral in Lorraine, built in 990. Enlarged in the 12th century in the purest Romanesque style, it was destroyed and then rebuilt five times. Having kept its Romanesque-Rhenish plan, it is known as a "double cathedral" and has two choirs, two transepts, two crypts and four towers. Not to be missed: a flamboyant Gothic cloister, statues of Eve, Adam, Cain and Abel from the 12th century, a Romanesque crypt. Important concerts and cultural events are held here.
