Former abbey transformed into a departmental site dedicated to heritage and housing a museum dedicated to the history of the Pays d'Orthe.

Today transformed into a departmental site dedicated to heritage, the former Abbey of Arthous houses a museum of History and Archaeology. A place of welcome and sharing of knowledge, it organizes artistic and scientific residencies, offers temporary exhibitions and a cultural program throughout the year. This listed building was founded in the 12th century on the road to Santiago de Compostela and belongs to the Prémontrés order. Labelled as a Museum of France, the museum will help you discover the Pays d'Orthe.

Lieu à ne pas manquer prévoir environ 2 h. abbaye restaurée surprenante par la longueur de la nef. Histoire de l Abbaye mais aussi du pays dOrthe. Vous pourrez aussi découvrir des carrelages d époque romaine. des points découverte pour les enfants. Vraiment un parcours très bien fait et instructif et interactif.
