This building, erected after the discovery of a black virgin, is a very popular place of pilgrimage

The building, disproportionate to the size of Avioth, is also nicknamed the Cathedral of the Fields. In 1993, John Paul II raised it to the rank of basilica. Built after the discovery of a black virgin (one of the rare ones of the Grand-Est), the site is a place of very frequented pilgrimage (on July 16th). One can also admire a unique construction in the world, La Recevresse (flamboyant gothic). Every third Sunday of July is usually organized a fair for craftsmen.

Haut lieu de pèlerinage Marial, la Basilique des champs comme on l'appelle parfois est un chef d'œuvre architectural et un lieu chargé d'Histoire. Un monument du département de la Meuse qui vaut le détour
