CHÂTEAU DE VAYRES
14th century castle with a French garden and a dovecote, Queen Anne of Austria and her son Louis XIV stayed there
A real fortified castle dating from the 14th century and rebuilt several times, it remains an exceptional place in the middle of a French garden, it also includes a pretty 17th century dovecote. For the anecdote, Queen Anne of Austria and her son Louis XIV stayed in Poitiers and, to thank the lords of Vayres for their hospitality, the queen had this dovecote built. Listed as a historical monument in 1959, it is an ideal and exceptional site to celebrate an event no less exceptional than a wedding.
