Learn more about a gigantic meteorite through a video, a model and tours of the town...

214 million years ago, a gigantic meteorite crashed into this area. Carving out a crater 20 km in diameter, the impact created typical rocks known as breccias. These breccias, the stony results of this extraterrestrial collision, can be seen in all the buildings in and around the town. The Espace Météorite (Meteorite Space) is the perfect place to find out more, thanks to an itinerary featuring numerous panels, videos and models, as well as discovery tours of the town.

I absolutely loved my afternoon spent in this museum, as it does a wonderful job of explaining the history of studying the geological factors of the local region. It was great because they had many different learning graphics for you to understand the size and magnitude of an astrobleme, an interactive map of meteorite sites around the world, samples of local stone, and the history of geological science when it comes to evaluating and understanding the components of stone. I loved learning about this and felt more connected to the magic of this region!! I was also super grateful that they had a handy guide in English :)
