A museum where you can find out all about Georges Guingoin, his commitment and how he became involved in the Resistance

Did you know that this was one of the most important maquis in France? The exhibition rooms are dedicated to Colonel Guingouin's 1st Limousin marching brigade of Franc-tireurs partisans, the actions of the maquis, the horrors of war, the crimes of Nazism and the militia, and the surrender of Limoges on August 21, 1944. Documents, objects, weapons, costumes and uniforms trace the history of the Resistance in the region. We discover the "Grand Georges, France's first maquisard", who is buried in the Saint-Gilles-la-Forêt cemetery. A fascinating visit.

Super. ???? Un guide au top qui aime ce qu'il fait, connais son sujet et nous fait vivre une époque que nous n'aurions pas aimé vivre. Bravo pour cette page d'histoire pas toujours très bien connue. Musée avec des images d'archives très intéressantes. A visiter absolument.

Nous avons très bien été accueilli. Le jeune homme est sympathique et passionné. Le musée est très bien agencé, les photos et objets sont intéressants. Nous venons d'Alsace, alors nous étions très touché par l'exposition extérieure et avons été surpris d'apprendre ce qu'il s'est passé ici-même... comme quoi nous avons encore à apprendre de ce triste moment d'histoire.
