DIAMOND CASTLE
This Renaissance-style residence dominates the right bank of the Vienne River
This Renaissance-style residence dominates the right bank of the Vienne River. The owners, Guillaume and Lætitia de Villelume open the doors at certain times of the year and tell with passion the history of the place and the pieces of art that decorate its interiors: tapestries, glassware, furniture from the Texandier de Losmonerie, officers of the Limoges finance office. If the stair tower, the gallery and the chapel date from the 16th century, the residence was enlarged in the 17th century with an inner courtyard and galleries by Jean de Lubersac. The site is also of great interest for its English terraced garden which offers visitors superb views over the valley. In the formal flowered garden around the historic building there is a taste walk with the largest French raspberry collection with over 100 varieties.
