Castle-fortress built in the Middle Ages, with free and guided visits all year long and animations for the whole family.

Built in 1305 on the orders of Bertrand de Goth, who became Pope Clement V, the castle of Villandraut is a fortress palace which is characterized by its six round towers still standing, and its enclosure in very good condition. Its curtain walls pierced with cross-patterned archways on two floors are among the oldest of their kind in France. The guided tour is very instructive. In summer, enjoy traditional games in the courtyard of the castle or a visit by torchlight at nightfall ... Immersive and impressive!

Nous avons choisis la visite simple et ce n'est pas terrible. Tout ce qui est intéressant est fermé au public et cela est bien dommage pour le coup.

A beautiful chateau to visit, amazing grounds, really interesting history and a great tour.

The tour was only in French, but there was a very detailed written English guide to read along with the tour. I was worried it would feel like we were missing out on details, but it actually worked really well. The tour guide was entertaining, clear and friendly, even with the language barrier.
