GIMEL CASCADES
In the heart of the Corrèze region, the Cascades de Gimel offer a natural spectacle of striking beauty. They unfold in three successive waterfalls that tumble down the Montane River over a height difference of almost 140 metres. Le Grand Saut (45 m), la Redole (38 m) and la Queue de Cheval (60 m) follow one another with power and elegance in a spellbinding crash, all the way to the mysterious Inferno chasm.
It was the painter-writer Gaston Vuillier who put the Gimel waterfalls on the map at the end of the 19th century. Fascinated by the beauty of the site, he campaigned for its preservation and devised an access route that respects and enhances nature. Staircases, footbridges and paths wind their way through lush vegetation, offering visitors total immersion. At every turn, a new perspective opens up, between mist and light, the song of water and the rustle of foliage. To visit the Cascades de Gimel is to experience a unique sensory interlude. You come here to admire, listen and breathe... but also to feel. Here, nature expresses itself freely, spectacular and soothing at the same time. This is an unforgettable getaway for all seasons, where water and rock tell a cascading story.
If you wish to extend your visit, a bar and cafeteria are available for a gourmet break. A boutique offers souvenirs and local products, reflecting the character of a village where numerous craftsmen and women passionately shape the earth and fire, perpetuating their unique skills.
