The King's kitchen garden, created by Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinie, produces 50 tonnes of fruit and 20 tonnes of vegetables every year.

This kitchen garden, designed and laid out according to the wishes of Louis XIV, is the work of Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinie. In 1678, on the very marshy site of the "stinking pond", he set about creating a new garden to supply the immense needs of the Court, and provide the royal table with fruit and vegetables worthy of the Sun King. Since its creation, the garden has continued to produce around 50 tons of fruit and 20 tons of vegetables a year. As well as being a pleasant place to wander around, it also offers a wide range of workshops, and is a great place to shop.

I felt disappointed by my visit with my son . We paid 5 euros garden is nice but with no explanation not well maintained for visitors. The coffeeshops were closed . It was during the toussaint break . It was not worth the visit you feel as if it not taking care of to make it attractive. They sell vegetables at the entrance .
