The King's kitchen garden, created by Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinie, produces 50 tonnes of fruit and 20 tonnes of vegetables every year.
This vegetable garden, designed and laid out according to the wishes of Louis XIV, is the work of Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinie. In 1678, on the very marshy site of the "stinking pond", he undertook the creation of a new kitchen garden in order to supply the immense needs of the Court, and to provide the royal table with fruits and vegetables worthy of the Sun King. Since its creation, it is still in activity and gives about 50 tons of fruits and 20 tons of vegetables per year. You can also do your shopping in his little store. And it's a great place to stroll around!
