PALACE OF VERSAILLES
Petit Futé's opinion on PALACE OF VERSAILLES

Is it still necessary to present it? The Palace of Versailles, this palace built by Louis XIV was a royal residence but also a high place of politics from 1682 to 1789. Former hunting lodge of Louis XIII, the monument was transformed and enlarged by his son Louis XIV who installed the Court and the Government of France in 1682. Until the French Revolution, the kings succeeded one another there. Its park also includes many elements to visit: Petit and Grand Trianon, the Queen's hamlet, Grand and Petit Canal, Menagerie, Orangery and the Swiss water feature.
