PALACE OF THE KING OF ROME - MUSEUM OF ART AND HISTORY
Palace of the King of Rome, an example of neoclassical architecture, it hosts the Museum of Art and History of Rambouillet.
This building, an example of neoclassical architecture, was built between 1783 and 1787 by Thévenin, on the orders of Louis XVI, to serve as the Hôtel du Gouvernement for the Comte d'Angiviller, Governor of Rambouillet. Napoleon I bought it in 1812 for his son, the King of Rome, and had it renovated. But the young heir never had the opportunity to stay there. Today, the Palais is home to the town's art and history museum, as well as festive events in its garden during the summer months.
