Dating from the Quaternary era, the Grotte Celestine was carved out of the limestone by an underground river under the city.

Dating from the Quaternary era, the Grotte Célestine was dug into the limestone by an underground river. Discovered in 1845, it was for a long time accessible only from the room of an honorable woman from Rauzan who gave it her name. Now open to the general public, this incredible cave under the city allows to observe the splendors of a mineral world and a teeming underground hydrological activity. Equipped with a helmet with headlamp, boots and a gown, it is up to you to play the adventurer in the bowels of the Earth!

Opening time and information on CELESTIAL CAVE

Open all year round. Opening days and times vary according to season. Annual closure during Christmas vacations. Adults: €12. Children (up to 15 years): €6 (for safety reasons, children must be at least 1m20 tall). Reduced rate for groups and Rauzan residents. Not accessible to people with reduced mobility. Guided tour (reservation required by telephone).
