Cylindrical tower, nearly 30 m high, flanked by four turrets. Remains of a fortress. Free admission.
The remains of Houdan's famous keep lie to the west of the town, on a plateau overlooking the Opton valley. The cylindrical tower, 30 m high and 15 m in diameter, is all that remains of the fortress erected in the early 12th century by Amaury III de Montfort. The edifice was used as a prison, before belonging to several private owners and finally being bequeathed to the town in 1903. Classified as a historic monument in 1889, it is flanked by four small semicircular turrets located at the four cardinal points.

Seul bémol, jongler avec les horodateurs du parking pour éviter les amendes forfaitaires en cas d'oublis.
Pour information le dimanche et lundi c'est gratuit, et le vendredi il y a le marché...
