Fully automated Chatou dam still in operation, allowing the transit of 20 million tons of goods
The Chatou dam is recent. Completely rebuilt between 2009 and 2013 and then inaugurated in 2014, it replaces the old dam which was installed in 1933 and considered too dilapidated. Fully automated, it allows the transit of 20 million tons of goods all year round, and this 24 hours a day. Like its neighbor, the Bougival dam, built in the 19th century and still in service, it allows large ships to travel as far upstream as the Suresnes dam, guaranteeing access to Paris and in particular to the port of Gennevilliers.
