Garden with 20 ornamental pavilions (7 of which can still be seen today) representing different civilizations.
Designed by François Racine de Monville, the Desert de Retz is a landscaped garden, a kind of small paradise on earth that invites contemplation. On the edge of the Marly forest, this garden, which today covers 17 hectares, is an enchantment with ornamental pavilions and 7 "fabriques" referring to different civilizations. Over the years, the site has changed ownership several times, before being classified as a Historic Monument. It is open to the public for guided or self-guided tours.
