MONUMENT COMMÉMORATIF À LOUIS DAGUERRE
Memorial to Louis Daguerre, a painter and one of the inventors of photography, in Cormeilles-en-Parisis.
One of the inventors of photography: Louis Daguerre, born in Cormeilles-en-Parisis in 1787 and died in Bry-sur-Marne in 1851, was a painter whose work brought him great success. But it was through his work on iodine and the revelation of the effect of mercury vapor on images that he launched the daguerreotype, literally the first photographic process, crowned with immense success. The bust in church square pays tribute to him.
