Walls and red armchairs arranged in a circle: L'Européen is the perfect setting for listening to artists in the field of French chanson, world music, jazz or rock. The 350-seat venue is a former café-concert dating back to 1872: Fragson, Yvette Guilbert and Edith Piaf all performed here. In the 1950s, operettas were performed here. It was also home to the Théâtre en Rond, run by directors and actors keen to return to the original Greek forms of theatre - an aesthetic "opposed" to Italian-style theatre.
