TANG FRÈRES

Delicatessen Asian products
3.8/5

Who says Tang Frères, says Asian supermarkets. It is the reference in the field. A bit of history: this supermarket on Avenue d'Ivry, created in 1976 by two Chinese brothers from Laos, is the first, the best known, the biggest and the most well-stocked. Since then, the Tang family has opened others, in the 13th district (avenue de Choisy) and beyond (in Noisiel, Vitry-sur-Seine, Pantin...). "What you don't find at Tang Frères, you're unlikely to find elsewhere: it doesn't exist", we've heard... Come here for a change of scenery, exoticism, inspiration and try these recipes from elsewhere that will wake up your guests' taste buds!

PARIS STORE

Delicatessen Asian products
3.7/5

A large blue brand, less discreet than its competitor Tang, but we find the same lively and teeming atmosphere of Asian stores. When you enter on the left, you see the sauces and side dishes: Nuoc-mam, nam pla, oyster sauce, chili sauce, soy sauce (available in 5-litre jerrycans!), Worcestshire sauce from Léa & Perrins, etc. On the right, a large frozen food section that is really worth it. There are sorbets with exotic flavours, but also shrimps, skewers, nems and various steamed ravioli sold in bags of 50 at unbeatable prices. For rice, there is plenty to choose from with the famous 50 kg bags of butterfly rice, broken rice, noodles, including Japanese noodles, teas, canned drinks and instant soups. An entire section is dedicated to spices and condiments, and alcohols are well represented, so avoid French wine, which is not of high quality. For all fruit and vegetables, the choice is breathtaking. The problem: labels, not translated, and salespeople who are only moderately French-speaking.

This supermarket offers excellent fruits of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and Japanese products that are not found in the rest of the neighborhood. Display is a real desire to immerse itself in exoticism. Despite its name, it is a little crushed by the two big competitors Tang Frères and Paris Store. So don't hesitate to change your sidewalk to get a tour at Big Store, maybe a little more expensive than its competitors but you won't be décu from this little trip…
