LOMBARD RESIDENCE-WORKSHOP

Contemporary architecture

Pierre Patout (1879-1965), a French architect, close to the international style inspired himself in his constructions of the liners he had built, influencing the liner style of a generation. This huge studio residence is an interesting example. At the angle of two streets, its heavy and frank openings on the sky thanks to its glass workshops exposes the last floor that overcomes the architecture of its volumes in the light. The house is part of the 1930 s course proposed by the city of Boulogne-Billancourt.

Contemporary architecture

Property of sculptor Joseph Bernard from 1921. The artist's workshop was built by architect Charles Hackle, and furniture by the cabinetmaker Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann. The house and workshop retain certain stages of the work of Joseph Bernard; presentation of works in the house and workshop (casting, watercolours, bronze editions…). On the other hand, we can see the Frise of Dance, sculpture of the artist embedded in the facade of the facade. The property is part of Boulogne-Billancourt's «1930 s course».

RESIDENCE-WORKSHOP FRORIEP DE SALIS

Contemporary architecture

André Lurçat (1894-1970) is in the half-wars considered one of the most prominent representatives of international style in France, with Le Corbusier and Mallet-Stevens. With its large horizontal bay overlooking an artist's workshop, and its cement pergola that extends to the entrance, André Lurçat executes a work that announces his participation in the architecture section of the Autumn salon. The villa was designed in 1927 and remains a significant trace of the architect's impetuosity. Boulogne-Billancourt includes it in its course of the 1930 s.

The Synagogue Synagogue synagogue, due to architect Emmanuel Pontremoli, was consecrated during a ceremony held on 21 September 1911 (the synagogue has thus 100 years since 2011), in the presence of Alfred Levy, the great rabbi of the Jewish central consistory of France and Algeria, and Jacques Henry Dreyfuss, the great rabbi of Paris. It was thanks to Baron Edmond James de Rothschild (1845 1934), president of the new work (the Paris Jewish Consistorial Association, founded in 1905) that this synagogue was born.

Built from 1319 to 1450 following a project formed by Philippe le Bel, the church Notre-Dame de Boulogne was devoted in 1330 by Hugues de Besançon, bishop of Paris. A pilgrimage place near the capital, the church sees under its vaults over the centuries Philippe V, Jean the Bon, Jeanne d 'Arc, Du Guesclin and Pope Sixte Quint. The village of Menus which, with the construction of the church, had become parish gradually took the name of Boulogne. It was erected in the revolutionary era. The church experienced successive restorations, the last of which was devoted to preserving the wall paintings that Charles Lameire realized in the last century. Our Lady of Boulogne is one of the few examples of the nineteenth century decoration in value today.

The castle Buchillot (eighteenth century) welcomes the work of the sculptor Paul Belmondo (1898-1982), a classic and figurative artist of his time. Hundreds of works are gathered on pure lines, fruits of donations from his three children, Muriel, Alain and Jean-Paul of course: sculptures, molds, medals, drawings and watercolors. In addition to these collections, there are numerous books from the personal library and the revival of the artist's workshop. Please note that a touch gallery is available to visitors: Here, it's no longer the view that is used, but touch - logical for a sculptor, but you have to think about it! Labellisé Museum of France offers a particularly careful museum: large gallery, touch gallery, design rooms or medals are all architectural successes that enhance the artist's works better than ever.
