Boulogne-sur-Seine and Billancourt were united in 1926. At the heart of a meander of the Seine, this commune is linked to Paris by the Bois de Boulogne and two metro lines. An industrial town since the 19th century, it was home to the Renault car plant, which closed in 1992, on the Ile Seguin, now home to the Seine Musicale. Today, this sub-prefecture of the Hauts-de-Seine has a population of almost 120,000, making it the second largest city in the Île-de-France region after Paris. Today, the city attracts a large number of service-sector companies specializing in advertising, telecommunications and the audiovisual sector.
