The specialty is rare enough to be reported: Christian Laplanche is a clockmaker. And he dedicates himself exclusively to the cuckoos. In this small Romanian boutique located just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral, there are more than a hundred and fifty models on the walls. These very typical clocks represent scenes of hunts, peasants, and other mountain scenes, all in wood or coloured. The king is, of course, the cuckoo clock of the Black Forest, far ahead of its famous Swiss counterpart which, you will learn by discussing with the owner, has never been the original! Thanks to its website, this passionate person is known to all amateurs and collectors. If the first prices are around €100 for a small model, they can fly up to more than €2,000 for the most sophisticated models.
