Discover the Fécamp Museum, a former cod dryer that bears witness to the life of Fécamp’s fishermen.
This exceptionally charming museum, housed in Fécamp’s former cod drying plant, is home to municipal collections shedding light on the life of Fécamp’s fishermen, the terre-neuvas. Their hard work, which sent them to fish cod off the coast of Canada every year, is now explained and documented for the general public. There are also collections of Norman costumes and furniture, as well as a cabinet of curiosities. Temporary exhibitions punctuate the year. From March 2 to May 19, 2024, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the Thixotropies exhibition by artist Laure Delamotte-Legrand. Through her work, she examines the evolution of the coastline from Normandy to Portugal, via the Netherlands. This exhibition is part of the fifth edition of the Normandie Impressionniste Festival. As usual, a series of workshops, lectures, readings and meetings, as well as a catalog, will be offered to accompany and extend the visit. New acquisitions include paintings and drawings, as well as models of a 1929 trawler and a 1975 caïque. A booklet of games and a Memory game for children will guide them through the meanders of the collections, while adults can follow Guy de Maupassant on their tour... Climb up onto the belvedere for a breathtaking view of the town and port!
