Remains of a former ducal palace built in the century, a beautiful tribute to the glorious past of Fécamp.
In the face of the Abbey, the ancient Ducal palace built in the 9th century was gradually dismantled over time. The building was then integrated into the monastic domain before returning to the town of Fécamp, which is now dealing with its conservation. These remains recall the dimension of military capital that the heirs of Rollon gave to Fécamp, from Guillaume Longue Sword to Guillaume the Conqueror. One can only hope that the place is soon open to the public on a permanent basis: it would be a great tribute to Fécamp’s glorious past.
