CATEL MANOR
This residence was remodeled in the century when its defensive role was no longer necessary
Manoir du Catel was built by the 10th abbot of Fécamp between 1265 and 1270, making it the oldest fortified house in Normandy. A magnificent medieval fortress, the residence was remodeled in the 15th century when its defensive role was no longer necessary. After a long period of neglect, the building has now been restored and listed as a Monument Historique. Don't miss the majestic fortified gateway, the astonishing graffiti and the 10-hectare valley open to visitors. Guided tours, exhibitions and cultural events bring the site back to life and allow you to discover Normandy's 1st decarbonized historic monument.
