L'Estran is a 1,600 m² museum and environmental center specializing in coastal zone management.
E.S.T.R.A.N. Cité de la Mer was founded in 1993. The acronym stands for Espace Scientifique et Technique des Ressources Aquatiques et de la Navigation. The word estran also refers to the part of the coastline that is alternately covered at high tide and uncovered at low tide. This eco-museum on Normandy's maritime heritage and environmental education is also an environmental center specializing in the management of coastal areas, and a social center with integration projects. Discover the coastal world through the life of Anita Conti,1st woman oceanographer. Continue your visit on the1st floor, dedicated to the evolution of shipbuilding. Take a journey back in time through the many models, from the construction of a drakkar to the genesis of a trawler. On the bridge, you'll discover the many on-board instruments, from sextants to today's on-board computers. The top floor is dedicated to the Upper Normandy fishing industry. Discover recent developments in fishing techniques, resource assessment and seafood processing. The Cité de la Mer is also home to the Jardin des Mers of the Station Nautique Dieppe Pays Normand.
