A defensive fort built to protect Bordeaux, featuring a number of surviving buildings such as a chapel, cistern and barracks...
Fort Médoc is a defensive fortification built by Vauban in 1689 to protect Bordeaux. Together with Fort Pâté and the Citadelle de Blaye, it forms a UNESCO World Heritage site that acts as a lock on the estuary. Some buildings are still standing, such as the fortified powder magazine, the guardhouse, the chapel, the cistern, part of the barracks and the royal gate with its ornate pediment bearing the royal sun. The view from the ramparts over the Gironde, the Blaye citadel and the surrounding hills is a must-see.

Very pleasant site. You can pricks to picnic (planned as nothing on site) bus tables are provided for this purpose. What to cultivate itself while spending an afternoon pleasant. The view of the estuary is magnificent. It is just a viewpoint indicator to better to make out. Moreover, according to the person at the entrance, the old wooden games will be installed in a building.
