This château, built by the Archbishop of Rouen, is one of the earliest jewels of the French Renaissance.

Château de Gaillon is one of the earliest treasures of the French Renaissance, built by the archbishop of Rouen, Cardinal Georges d'Amboise, in parallel with those built in the Loire Valley. Dismantled during the French Revolution, transformed into a penitentiary until 1946, it was finally bought by the State in 1975. Since then, a long restoration campaign has been underway. Guided tours, dramatized tours and exhibitions bring the site to life during the season, enabling visitors to discover all the treasures this building has to offer.

Well if it is on a way , stop by for a free visit. Not much inside , you do not have a view from any floor. Some pretty layout from outside

Most of site being restored and garden isn't much, but for a free trip, it's very good and we enjoyed what there was!
