Permanent collections featuring some 700,000 regional and non-European items, tracing the region's past.

The Musée d'Aquitaine houses a permanent collection of some 700,000 items of archaeology, history and regional and non-European ethnography, retracing the history of Bordeaux and the surrounding region. They are presented chronologically and thematically. Not to be missed: areas devoted to the 18th century ("Bordeaux, Atlantic trade and slavery"), the 19th century and the inter-war period ("Bordeaux, gateway to the world 1800-1939"). The museum also hosts major temporary exhibitions.

Museum complete regional collections. Free permanent exhibition. Since 2009, beautiful memory work with the fascinating section on milking négrière and slave system.
