This gothic basilica built at the end of the 14th century, is located in the heart of the Saint-Michel district
At the heart of the Saint-Michel district is a Gothic basilica built at the end of the 14th century. Fourteen side chapels line its sides and represent the different guilds that financed its construction (roofers, carpenters, mercers, sailors, salt measurers, merchants, pilgrims from Santiago de Compostela). The monument has a crypt - a must-see. The basilica is registered on the list of the world inheritance by the UNESCO under the title of the Ways of Santiago de Compostela, just like Saint-Seurin and Saint-André.

Beautiful monument in a neighbourhood in the change. It is also a handy geographical landmark. The originality of the basilica lies mainly in its campanile out of the main building. A pleasant visit that can continue with the discovery of local antique shops (flea market) every Friday morning

The Saint-Michel basilica is the church Port de la Lune lighthouse. The Saint-Michel spire is also one of the buildings you can best spot in the city. At the end of the 230 steps to climb, the first terrace makes its appearance with a beautiful view of Bordeaux. After other steps, another terrace welcomes you with an incredible view of Bordeaux to almost 360 degrees. There is also a possible to visit the crypt once the famous mummies of St Michel. A film recounts the history and projection on the stones you imagine the atmosphere that was to reign here.
