The Vélo-Cité association was created in 1980 to promote cycling in the Bordeaux area.

The Vélo-Cité association was set up in 1980 to promote cycling in the Bordeaux area. Its volunteers take part in a wide range of events in the city, such as the "En ville sans ma voiture" ("In town without my car") day, to raise awareness of the benefits of cycling. It also fights for the respect of cycling facilities, and the association initiates original bike rides in Bordeaux. Above all, it takes part in the annual Fête du Vélo, held at the beginning of June, and also organizes bicycle sales.
