THE LOSSES OF THE AIN
A trail to discover the ruins of the ancient fortress of Château-Villain and the castral chapel.
These "losses" have everything to show. The curiosity here is that the river Ain disappears only to re-emerge 100 m below. It is "lost" in a narrow (less than 2 m wide) and deep (up to 15 m) gorge. When it rains heavily, the waters bubble up and emerge in a remarkable waterfall. It has been powering a power station since 1922. A path from the "Les Chamois" parking lot takes you up to the waterfall, and higher up, to the ruins of the ancient fortress of Château-Villain and the castral chapel. On foot, by bike and picnic break.
