The best bars and cafés Arcachon

Fabrice Brignard, the master of the place, has the art of the party and it shows. This place is a bit the place to be... But be careful, nothing trendy or snobbish! We are here on Boulevard de la Plage and the large terrace with its wooden furniture is always full, especially in summer. The reason: the excellent rum-based cocktails, including a mojito to die for, and everything to eat with tapas, oysters, charcuterie or cheese boards, bruschettas, the chef's burgers or gourmet coffees. All served on a musical background of the 80s and 90s.

At the Cave des Darons, we drink and eat. Yannick took over this old cellar, which had already been in existence for 25 years. We particularly like the patio (which can be privatized) where you can enjoy the terrace. The wine bar is open from Tuesday to Saturday until 9pm in July and August, otherwise from Thursday to Saturday. Wine tasting is often accompanied by a platter of local produce. Run by Philippe Berbizier, well known in the world of rugby for having played for Lourdes and Agen, the Bar de l'Oubli is a café for friends, but not only. Those who love conviviality, good humor, tapas (evenings in summer) and bistro-style dishes (lunchtime and evenings in winter) all come together here. The daily special costs 18 euros. As a result, l'Oubli has become one of Arcachon's least forgotten spots, frequented by a diverse clientele ranging from locals to trendy Parisians of all ages. It's the place to be from breakfast to aperitif.

After the Pâtisserie de Famille in the heart of the Ha (a) ïtza hotel, the Téchoueyres family has opened a new patisserie, designed by Philippe Starck. La Pâtisserie de Ma Fille boasts a pleasant terrace on the Place des Marquises in Arcachon's summer town. Here, you can enjoy an excellent hot chocolate. And what about the pastries prepared by Antony Prunet! Each one is more appetizing than the last: gourmet, but not too sweet.

A distinction must be made between the beach bar and the restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner (reservations required) and features a short menu based on seasonal produce. From 9am to 1am, without reservation, the beach bar offers a wide choice of pizzas (prepared on site), seafood, a farandole of land and sea tapas: octopus à la galicienne, cod acras, terrine du vendangeur, BAO of pulled pork... And let's not forget the veggie recipes (falafels, honey-roasted camembert, truffle-roasted camembert...) and desserts. The view over the basin is superb. Enjoy it with a drink in hand.
