Coiffy-le-haut is a beautiful village belonging to the canton Bourbonne-les-bains. Its notoriety is mainly due to the production of its wine; however, we must remember the rich history of this small village. Thanks to or due to its geographical location (located between Lorraine and Burgundy), Coiffy-le-Haut, then named Coiffy-le-Châtel, became a royal strong place in the th century. Indeed, his past was often hectic and painful. Occupied by Anglo-bourgogne during the 30-year war, victim of two centuries of confrontation between the Crown of France and the house of Austria, besieged and vandalized several times during the wars between the Valois and then the Bourbons in the Habsburgs (xvith and xvii), his castle was destroyed by Richelieu who, during the-year war, ordered the destruction of small squares too exposed to the Exposées. wars. Coiffy lost his castle and name, it became Coiffy-le-Haut in 1638. A fatal event would once again came the village to the wrong: on the departure of the troop of soldiers occupying Coiffy, one inhabitant shot on one.
